Former PFANJ President Dominick Marino was remembered during the opening ceremonies of the 55th IAFF Convention held virtually during the week of January 26, 2021.

Connie and Francesca Zappella are two female firefighters and sisters in the Jersey City Fire Department. Connie joined the department in 2003, becoming the first female firefighter in Jersey City. Having worked her way up in the ranks, she is now the first female fire battalion chief in the state of New Jersey. Her younger sister, Francesca, recently joined the FD, after several years working as a police officer.

The PFANJ salutes Captain Andrea Hall, President of Fulton County Professional Firefighters Local 3920, who led the Pledge of Allegiance, in both spoken words and American sign language, at Wednesday's Presidential inauguration ceremony!

The PFANJ was honored to be on hand today as Governor Phil Murphy, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, and other distinguished guests and labor leaders, visited the Morris County Regional Vaccination Center to highlight the beginning of New Jersey’s vaccination effort for sworn fire and law enforcement professionals.

On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:15am, Governor Phil Murphy will hold a virtual bill signing event for the “Dominick Marino PFRS Enhanced Benefits for Surviving Spouse Act” (S487), which enhances PFRS accidental death benefit for surviving spouse who becomes eligible after effective date by providing for minimum of $50,000 annually.
