The NJ First Responder COVID Hope & Healing Helpline is now available for all New Jersey first responders (fire, EMS, law enforcement, Veteran or military) and family members to provide additional support during this pandemic.

Connie and Francesca Zappella are two female firefighters and sisters in the Jersey City Fire Department. Connie joined the department in 2003, becoming the first female firefighter in Jersey City. Having worked her way up in the ranks, she is now the first female fire battalion chief in the state of New Jersey. Her younger sister, Francesca, recently joined the FD, after several years working as a police officer.

On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:15am, Governor Phil Murphy will hold a virtual bill signing event for the “Dominick Marino PFRS Enhanced Benefits for Surviving Spouse Act” (S487), which enhances PFRS accidental death benefit for surviving spouse who becomes eligible after effective date by providing for minimum of $50,000 annually.
